Wayne Walker is the president of Walker Nell Partners, Inc. (“Walker Nell”), an international business consulting firm. He focuses on corporate governance, turnaround management, corporate restructuring and bankruptcy matters.
Before founding Walker Nell in 2003, Wayne worked for 15 years at the DuPont Company in Wilmington, Delaware in the Securities and Bankruptcy group, where he worked in the Corporate Secretary’s office and served as Senior Counsel. He developed a national reputation for his expertise in business restructuring and insolvency, workouts, bankruptcy, and financing. Wayne advised DuPont’s Financial Services Division, which was responsible for assessing customers’ creditworthiness as well as restructuring debtors, whether in or out of court. Wayne advised on DuPont matters in the medical, automotive, plastics, electronics, surfacing, fiber and petrochemical industries. He also served on the global business teams of DuPont Corian® and Electronic Material businesses. Wayne was also a partner for three years at Parente Beard, now known as Baker Tilly, and two years as a partner at CohnReznick, LLP.
Wayne serves on the board of directors of Seaborne Airlines, a regional carrier in the Caribbean, and Green Flash Brewing Co., a national full-scale craft brewery. He serves as well on the board of directors of Last Call Operating Companies, that owned national restaurants such as Fox & Hound, Champps and Bailey’s Bar and Grille.
He recently served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of BridgeStreet Worldwide, Inc., a global provider of corporate housing. He also completed tenure as a director of a publicly traded company (“NASDAQ”) in the new media industry. He served as lead independent director, board secretary and chaired governance and nominations, compensation and special committees.
Wayne serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of National Philanthropic Trust, a public charity that holds $6 billion of assets under management and has disbursed more than one billion dollars around the world. He also serves on the boards of Eagleville Hospital and Foundation, where he chairs the Finance and Budget Committee. Wayne also serves on the Audit Subcommittee of the Union League of Philadelphia.
For three years, Wayne served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity International, then a $400 million plus global non-profit housing organization spanning 60 countries. Wayne led the 27-member Board, governed 650 employees and turned the organization’s losses into an operational reserve. Wayne also held positions of corporate secretary and chairman of the Executive and Human Resource Committees of the board during his eight-year tenure.
Wayne speaks nationally on corporate governance matters and debtor/creditor rights. He has written for the Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law.
Wayne has a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Catholic University (Washington, DC) and a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University (New Orleans). His education has been supplemented by various continuing education courses offered by the Practicing Law Institute and American Bankruptcy Institute.
Wayne is an attorney licensed by the State Bar of Georgia. He is a member of the State Bar Association of Georgia, American Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute and Turnaround Management Association.
