John Ward has more than 35 years of experience in Mergers & Acquisitions and Transaction Advisory. He recently completed a 30-year career at the DuPont Company serving as lead M&A Counsel on all major transactions for the past 20 years with expertise in US corporate and securities laws, cross border issues and obtaining global regulatory approvals.
In addition, he was Associate General Counsel-M&A managing and monitoring a docket of 15 to 20 M&A projects globally staffed by other DuPont lawyers and local outside counsel – working with each project team on allocating resources, identifying and resolving key issues and completing internal governance processes. His practice also included numerous joint venture projects in the US and globally both in formation and dissolution, and working with corporate ventures teams in making minority equity investments in a select group of startup and venture capital funds.
Notable projects that Jon led are IPO/Split off of Conoco Inc in 1997/1998, the Sale of DuPont Pharma to Bristol Myers for $7.8 billion in 200, the Acquisition of Danisco Inc. (Danish public company) for $5.8 billion in 2012, the Sale of DuPont Performance Coatings for $4.9 billion in 2013
He most recently completed leading a global legal team for over two years on the formation and 100% spinoff of DuPont Performance Chemicals businesses (Chemours Company) including approx. $4B billion of capital markets transactions by Chemours immediately prior to the spinoff.
Jon holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from Moritz College of Law, Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Accounting from Bowling Green State University. He has also served 16 years on the Board of Trustees with two terms as Board Chair of Delaware Hospice Inc.
